Congress

  • The Congress Building is being displayed with a Congressmen dressed in his work attire.
  • The action that is being taking here is the Congressmen realizing that without a government his political position is really of no use. He will just be like an ordinary citizen without any type of power.
  • The message here is that Government are people in a higher position who get paid a nice amount of money and have somewhat better lives the the ordinary american based on salary and power position. But without government there will be NO use for them.
  • This relates to the shut of congress that was to be On April 8. Our class discussed the many things that could change and what may not be affected by this situation.
  • Satire is that people in high positions may think that they over shine us. And maybe that they live better than we do but without government their just like us.

  • The objects that are represented in this image is a newspaper, and two people the artist is trying to display a conversation between two people on a important topic.
  • The action that is taking place here is that over the weekend Government was to shut down and the woman asked the man what bad could happen by shutting down the government and neither one of them had an answer.
  • The message of this cartoon was to show that with or without government our country could not possibly get any worse than it already is. With all the things that are going on and the decisions that are being made government shutting down would not change a thing.
  • This relates to what a current political event that was to happen the weekend of the April 8, 2011.
  • This relates to our class discussion because we were speaking on what would change if this was to stay for a long period of time. For instance welfare and government ran programs would no longer exists.
  • The sarcasm that is showed here is that this was a real event but people didn't seem to think much of it. and the irony was that it was acted as if it was just an everyday topic.

Obama's fly-by consultation
  • The cartoon title is Obama's Fly-by Consultation. These words were being used to show the recent occurance that happened with the President. He made a decison on his own with consultation from no one.
  • The objects that are presented here are planes with messages attached that said We're off to bomb Libya for a few days consider yourself consulted-President Obama. This was done over are No-fly zone and they flew near this are in Washington to say that they warned the officials. the artist is showing how the people of America took this news because it seemed new to everyone nobody knew of anything.
  • The action that was taking place in this cartoon is The Presidents way of informing us of his plan to Bomb Libya. It was a pretty sneaky way of doing things, maybe so that no one would have had the ability to change his mind.
  • The message is that we were so completly unaware of the decison made by President to bomb Libya.
  • This action relates to current political events because the President  did not inform his citizens of his plans to bomb this country. and millions of dollars were put to use for this attack.
  • The satire that is expressed here is that it was a fly-by which was a very quick sneaky way of showing this message to the people. The irony here is that its true and basically nobody was aware until after the attack. which we could no longer do anything about.

Debt

  • The author of this cartoon choose the specific actions and words to help to illustrate to the audience exactly how much debt the American society is in.
  • President Barack Obama is presented in this cartoon because is the leader of this country most things fall back on him. The objects that are presented in this cartoon is our President bent over with a sack on his back labeling debt to show what America owes.
  • The actions here is that President Obama is in China and the people representing are telling him he does not have to bow but its not him bowing its just the load that he has on his back.
  • The message of this cartoon basically is just to show that America owes a lot of money. Also it show how the person who it falls on is our President even if society is accepting some consequences.
  • The cartoon relates to the world most people are in debt to others and it becomes a huge burden to know that you actually owe people money. By being in debt many things have to be changed so we will have an extreme amount of budget cuts all over. Some have already started or be spoken about.
  • The satire that is expressed here is the bending over halfway because he is not purposely doing it.

Budget Cuts

  • This Cartoon has no caption or Title.
  • This cartoon displays a family with a son who has a horrible report card containing all F's. So the father explains to him that the are now cutting down on the funds given out for education so now everybody will be equal in education opportunities since you need money for education.
  • The action that is being displayed is the father encouraging his son and the mother being extremely happy because now the think their child may have a chance to succeed in the world without a full education.
  • The message is that Funds are being dropped so many won't continue on with a higher education.
  • This relates to a current political event discussed in class because we just found out that Governor Corbett is reducing the amount of money given to education by at  least 1 billion.(The new governor is expected to stick by his campaign promise to balance the books without raising a single tax) Our class was just discussing how we are expecting the cost of tuition to increase by at least five percent.
  • The satire that is displayed is that just because the funds are cut does not mean that he will be ok in the world. And the irony is that people will succeed whether they are given a handout or not.

Government

http://cagle.com/working/110301/beeler.jpg

1. This cartoon does not have a title but the words that are used in this cartoon show that the government is failing but it wont ever close because that what America runs on.
2.The objects that are used are the government building showing how it will always be standing no matter what bad things happen to us as citizens.
3. the action taking places is that work is not being done but government still remains in place.
4.The cartoon shows that government is not making a change is society but yet they still stand in a high place.
5.This relates to a current political event by saying the people in charge make the decision no matter how dumb they are. for instance (not complaining) but the unnecessary snow days for the few inches of snow. but we went to school on a day when the snow was coming down hard and heavy. This relates to our in class discussion because it shows who has the say over things.
6. The irony that is displayed here is that in reality that is true government is the power holder until the change is made.
